Tips to avoid purchases you'll regret later

Navigating the Black Friday sales period can be daunting. With a jungle of offers and fake deals, finding the best deals can seem difficult. We have gathered our top three tips for making the smartest purchases during all of Black Friday.

1. Make a shopping list throughout the year

To avoid making a purchase you will regret, making a list of products you actually need is a great idea. Not only will you have an easier time navigating the Black Friday sales, but you will also buy what you actually need. A top tip is to compile this list through the year so that when the time comes for the sales period you are not scrambling, trying to come up with things you "need" to buy.

2. Buy what you actually need

Try to avoid making purchases where you're not completely certain if the product in question is fit for your purposes. This can apply to product size, design, specs and many other elements, so be sure to do your research when preparing. Clothing is often at the top of the list of regret purchases for many. Perhaps because the winter boots they bought have a no-return policy attached to them and were just a little too small for the one they were purchased for? Or maybe they struck fast in buying an radiant ballroom dress, despite not having any current or future balls to attend where one could actually wear it?

3. Don't buy something just because it's on sale

It is certainly not uncommon for people to buy things they don't need during Black Friday simply because it's on sale. A clever way to avoid this is to look for great deals on products you use regularly, such as toothpaste or dishwasher tablets. This will in the long-term save you both money and will be better on the environment.
