How to keep your white trainers white

Matilda Hansson

The outdoor temperatures are rising and it’s starting to feel pleasant going out for a walk. In other words, the time has come to take out your spring trainers. What doesn’t say spring more than that?

Spring = white trainers

When does the spring really start? We would say, the day you put on your spring shoes. Soon, if it hasn’t already, the day will come and it is time to look over your shoe situation.

What condition are your trainers in? Do they have a season left in them or were they already on their last legs last summer? A pair of dirty trainers can of course be cleaned, but eventually it will come to a point when you have to let your favourites go and get a pair of new ones.

White sneakers are always a nice detail to go with your spring outfit. They match everything and lightens up even the rainy spring days. But how do you keep white shoes white? By following our three simple tips.

4 tips for keeping white trainers white

  1. Invest in a cleaning kit. With a proper cleaning kit you have everything that you need in order to remove stains and dirt from your shoes. A soft brush can also be really useful when dealing with those stubborn dirt particles.

  2. If the soles of your shoes become dirty during a wet walk - wipe them clean as soon as possible. Use your cleaning cream and rub the dirt away with a wet tissue.

  3. Go old school and wipe your shoes clean with a damp cloth and baking soda. But be aware - always check beforehand if your trainers can handle this type of cleaning.

  4. Water proof your shoes! A lot of people think they don’t need to waterproof their trainers. But the truth is that your trainers will have a much longer life time and be more dirt and water resistant if you apply a thin layer of protection to them.
