Three tips for buying a gas stove

Start by checking which gas you need for the stove: LPG, coal gas, or natural gas. This depends on whether you are connected to a gas network and, if so, which one. If your house is not already connected, you will need to lay down new cables, which can be expensive. If so, it is better to install an LPG system.

Be sure to check what rules applies when installing a gas cooker and make sure you have it installed by a competent Gas Safe registered engineer that can show proper identification.

Carefully read what properties the stove has. Here are three features that we think are particularly good:

  • Automatic shut-off shuts off the gas supply if the flame goes out, which is an important safety feature.
  • A stove with an eco function adjusts the energy consumption if you only cook a small amount of food, so that you don't use too much.
  • A self-cleaning oven uses steam for automatic cleaning, saving you time and energy.
