3 things to consider before buying a food processor
The size of the bowl varies between models, so consider how you plan to use the food processor:
- For sauces and smoothies, a smaller model of 1–2 litres is usually enough.
- For kneading dough for example, a larger model may be necessary.
The bowl size also determines how much space a food processor will require. If you live in a small space or don't have room to store a larger model, a smaller one may be the best option. Just make sure you choose a model that's powerful enough to do what you need it to.
Depending on your needs, it's a good idea to check which accessories come with your food processor. Common ones included are a dough hook, shredder disc, whisk, and universal knife. Less common accessories are a citrus press, egg whisk, meat grinder, and different cutting and chopping attachments.

Most food processors nowadays have dishwasher-safe parts, but there are exceptions. If you prefer not to wash the parts by hand, it's worth choosing a food processor that can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
Additionally, consider the design of the machine, not only for its aesthetics but also for practical reasons. If it has many small and confined spaces, food might accumulate in those areas. Cleaning these small spaces can be challenging and time-consuming.
