You can sleep while wearing continuous wear contact lenses, also known as day and night lenses. They are thinner and made from silicone hydrogel, which allows more oxygen into the eye than regular lenses. On average you can use continuous contact lenses for up to 7 nights in a row. Sleeping in lenses that don’t explicitly say they are made for it can be harmful to your eyes, causing blurred vision and infections.

You should always follow the advice and guidelines from your optician. But here are a few key things to remember for monthly and continuous wear contact lenses:

2. Carefully remove each lens, cleaning them with the solution recommended by your optician.
3. Fill your clean case up with new cleaning solution. No matter how tempted you are, do not reuse the solution from the day before.
