Three tips when buying a sprinkler

  • Oscillating: This is the most common type of sprinkler, and it’s sometimes referred to as a rectangular sprinkler. They are often quite cheap and are based on a technology with an oscillating bar. They’re especially suitable for watering lawns. And this is also the type of sprinkler that kids love jumping over.

  • Sector sprinkler: Also known as a circular sprinkler. This is also a relatively inexpensive type of sprinkler, and is also the second most common type in Swedish gardens. A nice feature that sector sprinklers have is that they can be locked for watering at different angles.

  • Rotating: Rotating sprinklers are compact and easy to handle, and work even when the water pressure is slightly weaker. This is a simpler type of sprinkler that costs significantly less than other types.

  • Sprinkler hose: If you mainly want to water plant beds and cultivated areas, consider buying a sprinkler hose. This hose has small, perforated holes and is placed next to the flowerbeds to give them very precise watering. The downside is that it can be difficult to extend a system with sprinkler hoses.

Always check the sprinkler’s maximum watering area. This is usually stated in square metres or in metres x metres. A standard oscillating sprinkler typically offers a watering area of 300 to 400 square metres, while a simpler sprinkler can handle around 220 square metres.

Our changeable and harsh climate requires sprinklers that can withstand both the sun and the cold. Make sure that the sprinkler is frost and UV resistant.

Due to climate changes, draught has been more and more reoccurring. Learn how to water your plants with minimun water waste.
