Three tips when buying a hose holder

Some hose holders are attached to the wall of the house and some stand on the ground. Some of them also have wheels, making it easy to move the hose holder around. Think about what suits you best.

If you have a long hose, it’s convenient to have a hose trolley that you can pull around the garden. The advantage with a wall-mounted hose holder is that it takes up less space and is more discreet.

Make sure that the hose holder also has room for accessories, e.g. different nozzles. Then you’ll have everything in one place, which always makes things easier.

Some hose holders come with a built-in motor that automatically retracts the hose. This saves both time and energy, and is great if you’re prone to backache from gardening.

Most hose holders are made from plastic or metal. The great thing about plastic is that it won’t rust, but on the other hand it breaks more easily. If you choose a metal holder, make sure it’s made from rust resistant materials, such as galvanised steel.

Regardless of the material, it’s important that the holder can withstand the hose’s weight, so make sure you choose a sturdy wall fitting. For example, a hose holder with a 30-metre hose weighs around 12 kg – even more if there’s water in it.

Are you getting a bit tired of detangling hoses perhaps it's time to look into a self-watering system to make your life easier.
