3 things to consider when buying changing pads

Choose a changing pad that’s easy to keep clean, especially during the early days when you'll be changing diapers frequently.

Opt for a changing pad that you can wipe down with ease, or better yet, one that you can toss in washing machine. If the changing mat itself isn’t washable, then consider adding a layer of plasticised terry cloth on top and using washable covers. This way, you can protect your pad and keep it looking its best.

Keeping your baby safe is always the number one priority, especially when they start becoming more active and curious.

To prevent accidents, invest in a changing pad with sturdy edges that can stop your little one from rolling off. And keep one hand on your baby at all times, even when reaching for things. You never know when they'll make their first twist.

If you've recently purchased a nappy bag second-hand, you may have noticed that it doesn't come with a changing pad. Or, you might want to have an extra one for use at home or while out and about with your pram.

That's where portable changing pads come in handy. These pads can easily be folded into a small and practical bag, making them ideal for carrying around. Plus, they're often washable. Some even come with storage compartments for nappies and wet wipes, making them an all-in-one solution.

When choosing a portable changing pad, look for one that's easy to clean and has a practical handle for carrying. And if you're taking them on an adventure, we recommend one with a storage compartment – it's always a good idea to have a spare nappy and some wet wipes on hand, just in case.

If you're having trouble finding the perfect changing mat, why not try make your own?
