Three tips when buying a whirlpool bath
A whirlpool bath doesn’t need to take up more space than a normal bathtub. If you have a small bathroom, a corner bath will usually be the best choice.
If you and your partner will be using the bath together, it should be at least 170 centimetres long and 80 centimetres wide. Choose a double-ended bath where both sides of the bathtub have a gentle slope to support back and neck, so both of you are equally comfortable.
Whirlpool baths come with a variety of features, such as built-in speakers, Bluetooth and touchscreen control panels. These features elevate the experience to new levels of luxury. Here are some more great features to look for:
- LED lighting illuminates the bath water in different colours.
- Overfill protection prevents the bath from overflowing.
- Maintenance heating keeps the water warm, so you don’t have to keep refilling the tub as it cools down.
Whirlpool baths mainly have two types of massage: air massage and hydromassage. Air massage involves small bubbles, while hydromassage consists of jets of water directed at parts of the body for deep tissue massage. Some bathtubs offer both types, separately or combined. In some you can also get a foot massage. Remember that the bathtub shouldn’t be too big for you, as this could make it difficult for the jets to reach all over your body.
