Shop safely online

E-commerce has been around for 20 years. Today, e-commerce is an established, effective and convenient way to shop. Almost 20% of all purchases in the UK are made online. In addition, e-commerce is secure and subject to extensive laws and regulations.

There are a number of important things to know when you shop online:

• You have the same security and rights as at regular retailer when you shop online.
• You have up to six years to make a complaint if something turns out to be wrong with a product, though after the first six months, the onus is on you to prove a fault was present at the time of purchase. The retailer is then obliged to fix the issue or repay the money.
• You have 14 days' cancellation right from the day after you received the goods. This means that you can return the goods and get your money back.
