Coffee makers under £100

Sara Assadi

For many, coffee is a must for a successful start to the day. Fortunately, a great coffee maker doesn't have to cost the earth. Here's a list of affordable coffee machines that do what they're supposed to do: brew a good cup of coffee.

Cheap and good coffee machines

Making good coffee is a craft, and we all prefer it in different ways. Some like plain black brewed coffee, others like to take their time to get the perfect milk foam. It's easy to think that the most expensive machines make the best coffee, but that's not necessarily the case. Here are some tips on coffee machines under one hundred pounds that make drinking coffee a pure pleasure.

Coffee presses

With a coffee press, it is both quick and easy to brew really good coffee. Put ground coffee in the pot and pour hot water over it, then let it sit for five minutes before pressing. When you're done, just wash it out, either by hand or in the machine. A bonus is that it hardly takes up any space.

Coffee brewers

A classic coffee brewer only needs coffee and water, then brews automatically. Here you will need to buy coffee filters, but if you choose multiple use coffee filters it is a one-time investment.

Pod machines

A pod machine is perhaps the easiest to use of all. You insert a coffee capsule and then you get a good cup of coffee - that's it. You don't have to worry about coffee filters and there are many different types of capsules and flavors to choose from.

Espresso machines

With an espresso machine you can make delicious cappuccinos for breakfast, just like in a café. You do everything yourself: from grinding the beans to heating and frothing the milk. Plus, many devices already have a built-in milk frother.

Percolators

A percolator is one of those devices that pretty much takes care of itself. You fill it with coffee and water and it makes excellent coffee in a matter of minutes. No filters needed.

Pour overs

A pour over coffee maker is a pot with a filter. You put ground coffee in the filter, pour boiling water over it and let it drip into the pot. It takes up very little space and is ideal if you want to avoid large kitchen appliances.

Moka pots

In a moka maker, you pour in ground coffee and hot water. Place it on the stove and sit back while it does its thing. However, it does not work on all induction cooktops, so you may need to buy an induction adapter or choose an electrical moka pot that does not need to be heated on the stove.
