Benjamin E. Timmermann

Pizza, one of the most loved dishes in the world. But did you know that there are endless variations of the classic dish? We have gathered them all along with what you will need to create the different types of pizzas!

It's all about the pizza

We think pizza might be one of our favourite food groups ever! But why limit yourself to the standard pizza? Did you know that there are endless variations on the classic pizza, everything from deep dish to sheet pan pizza. We have gathered everything you need to create every type of pizza imaginable, so have a look, find your favourite, and get baking!

1. Pizza pan

The advantage of using a pizza pan or disc is that it's easy to use and allows your pizza to cook evenly. Make sure you get one with mesh bottom so that the heat can spread evenly and to avoid condensation build up, which will lead to soggy crust. Trays are also quite light as opposed to pizza stones and cast iron pans so they're ideal for simple, everyday use.

2. Pizza stones

Although a pizza stone might seem like a lot of hassle and perhaps something that may seem a bit intimidating to use, don't shy away from it just yet. A pizza stone is actually as close as you'll get to the cooking process of a stone oven. The difference when using a pizza stone is that you will get an overall crispier crust, and the stone will absorb the extra moisture mimicking the effect of a stone oven, you're pizzas will taste the same as the one's you get in your favourite pizza restaurant.

3. Cast iron pizza pans

A cast iron pan is probably the most versatile pizza pan you could get. You can use it in the oven, on the grill, in a stone oven or even on your oven top. You'll get great crispy and structured crust thanks to the cast iron edges that provide even heat.

4. Sheet pan pizza

Although sheet pan pizza might seem somewhat un-authentic it's actually a classic Sicilian dish, as well as on the you can find in most malls around Italy. Not only that, it's easy to make, divide and serve, especially if you have many hungry mouths that want homemade pizza.

5. Deep dish pan pizza

The Chicago classic pizza or pie as many call it, has a unique composition and taste. Deep dish pans have high metal sides to allow for a high crust which is then filled with tomato sauce cheese and topping. Although we may associate this more with what we know has a pie, the classic deep dish pan pizza is iconic and many prefer it over regular. So why not give it a go? It may be your new favourite.
